Bethesda Announces New Indiana Jones Game In the Works

A new Indiana Jones adventure will be coming in the distant future by way of Bethesda and the Wolfenstein team.

Bethesda Softworks tweeted out a teaser trailer today ending with the iconic hat being picked up to reveal Jones’ whip underneath. The game is being developed by Machine Games, the team behind the Wolfenstein series. The trailer didn’t include any information as far as a title, launch date, launch window, or platforms.

“A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, Machine Games, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games,” Bethesda said in a subtweet. “It’ll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!”

The announcement comes a day after Disney revealed Lucasfilm Games, the new identity for all gaming titles from Lucasfilm. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark‘s release. Despite the fan base for the Indiana Jones series, a game hasn’t been made using the IP in recent years. The last console release came out in 2009 in the form of Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues.

The news also has some fans wondering where the game will be released. Microsoft announced the purchase of Bethesda from parent company ZeniMax in September 2020. So while it’s a certainty this will be a Microsoft title, it’s unclear if it will be an Xbox and PC exclusive.
